Forklift Operator - Job Description: 


The Forklift Operator is responsible for loading and unloading product, both incoming and outgoing of the facility. They are responsible for maintaining the workflow in the factory or warehouse by preparing orders for shipment, storing product, assisting in taking inventory, and operating the machinery required to safely handle and transport items. 
 

Qualifications:
•    Requires minimum of 1 year forklift experience. 

•    Must be teamwork oriented.
•    Punctual and reliable.
•    Ability to work within a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends & holidays.
•    Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
•    Must be able to pass forklift training and test to obtain forklift license.
•    Great attention to detail.
•    Ability to perform basic mathematical addition and subtraction.
•    Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
•    Ability to withstand temperatures under 40 degrees for extended periods of time.
•    Warehouse experience: 2 years (Required)

•    Work safely in a busy environment to include attention to other drives and pedestrians.
•    Must be able to stand/sit for up to 8+ hours/shift, and able to bend, kneel, lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs
•    Must be able to follow written/verbal instructions.
•    Must follow all Safety, Food Safety and working rules.
•    Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required.

 

Responsibilities
•    Operate forklift in loading, unloading product, material, and equipment.
•    Prepare orders for shipment in accordance with the pick ticket and customer specific requirements.
•    Assists in physical inventory, stock rotation, FIFO (First in-First out), as needed. 
•    Must inspect sanitation, chute condition and temperature of trailer.
•    Must consistently ensure that the pre-loading trailer inspection is done, both on the scan gun and loading manifest or separate page making sure they are properly completed in their entirety BEFORE loading begins.
•    Must adhere to the following policies: Employee Safety, Food Safety and all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
•    Picking customer orders, ensuring quality product gets shipped out in the correct quantities and rotation.

•    Stage finished product for loading.
•    Must take pulp temperature of products to be loaded to make sure of proper temperature, any issues contact supervisor.
•    Load finished product onto truck.
•    Responsible for quality control. No damaged product is sent out. No damaged material is accepted in.
•    Inspect shipments for damages, loss or defects and notify Supervisor of findings.
•    Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs)
•    Maintains good housekeeping and clean work areas in assigned work area.
•    Assures that all work assigned to position is performed in accordance with specifications, instructions and requirements.
•    Fill out daily forklift inspection reports.
•    Communicate with the driver & dispatch on specific loading instructions.
•    Accurately scan product in and out of location using scan guns, verify correct quantities.
•    Must fill out any necessary information on pick ticket, which includes how many pallets are loaded, location placement (trailer schematic), identify missing product.
•    Must be able to handle multiple tasks on a daily basis.
•    Understand weight restrictions.
•    Efficiently stack and store products in the appropriate areas.
Responsibilities 
•    Maintains forklift in neat and clean condition including making sure battery is charged..
•    Perform other duties as assigned.
